As I am sure most would people agree that the worst thing to happen while travelling is to have an infant somewhere nearby our seat or berth because of their super-human vocal cords which have made their parents lose their hearing ability. Here are some of the hypothetical situations a person might find him/herself while in a train.
• Having a person listen to your conversations with friends of the opposite gender, which are about other people, private lives and “girl secrets”, and then advising them on how-to-wrench-secrets-out-of-a-girl.
• A couple of good friends travelling in the same compartment as yours and playing the really heart-wrenching sad ballads from the early 90’s movies. You know the ones in which the heart of the heroine is compared to thorns and all.
• A girl sitting beside you talking on phone with her fiancĂ© and threatening him to break of the relationship because his family isn’t considerate enough of her troubles with the travelling. Also, that she will be better off with “Titu” as he understands her (till date I wonder how the hell was I able to control my laughter).
• A lady who thinks that her younger cousin might be on the same wavelength/frequency as yours and takes your number to give to him. Who, by the way, comes up with the most ridiculous start-up line for the conversation and ends up making you his sister (something highly unappreciated by the said sister) when he realizes you are elder to him (he is totally not your type. Hallelujah!)
• While waiting for the means of transportation to arrive, you spot a hottie who can be in the vicinity of where you are meant to sit. You monitor his body language to gauge how interesting the journey is going to be, only to find that he was waiting for another route on the same mode of transportation.
• Some people are very fond of food (so am I) and they carry everything in their kitchen with them short of the cooking stove and you are famished. Help in form of pantry cannot be seen anywhere in the near future.
• Remember Altaf Raja of “tum to thehare pardesi” fame? Well it turns out that some people are his fans and determined to make others notice his talent by playing songs full-blast on various media devices that China has to offer.
Disclaimer: all the incidents and characters in this hypothesis are inspired from real life. Resemblance to anyone dead or alive is to be expected.
couldn't have agreed more... good humour and old train days revisited :-)
